Los Angeles County often gets the reputation for being exciting but expensive. Whether you are new to the area or just moving to a new home in LA County, you might be interested to know that there are a variety of enjoyable things to do there – for free.
Museums
There are many free museums in the county, particularly in the city of Los Angeles. While some, such as the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust are free all the time, other museums have specific days when you can visit for free. For example, the Natural History Museum is free the first Tuesday of every month except in July and August. They also offer free admission every Tuesday in September.
South of Los Angeles, the Torrance Art Museum is also free to the public. Exhibits change on a regular basis, so even if you visit the museum frequently it can be a new family experience each time. As an added bonus, visitors to the Torrance Art Museum can park for free. Several other local cities also have free museums, often also with free parking.
Game Show or a Reality Show Taping
Many game shows are taped in Los Angeles County, and you can get the tickets for free. Although you will need to get tickets in advance, you can be there for the taping of shows such as Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, or The Price is Right. A variety of other shows including America’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, and American Idol are also taped at least in part in Los Angeles County.
