Coming November Events in Los Angeles County

Los Angeles County, with an estimated population of more than 10 million as of 2014, is the most populous county in the United States and is more populous than 43 individual states. It is composed of a staggering number of cities (88) and many unincorporated areas. The county even includes two offshore islands, San Clemente and Santa Catalina.

With the amazing fact that over one-quarter of California residents live in this one county, it’s not surprising that there’s a wide variety of art, theater and cultural activities.

Here are just a few November events that you might want to put on your calendar:

Second Annual Mosaic Craft Fair

November 15 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

The Alhambra, 1000 S. Fremont Avenue, Alhambra.

This Handmade Shopping Event is a holiday shopping extravaganza that features local artists, artisans and DIY-ers who present a variety of handmade goods including toys, clothing, jewelry as well as bath and body items. There will also be food, lots of activities for children, arts and crafts workshops, a beer garden, a DJ and live music and much more.

Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience

November 15, 2015 – 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM

Carpenter Performing Arts Center, Long Beach.

These canine daredevils thrill the whole family with amazing tricks, high-jumping acts, Frisbee catching, and a triathlon for stunt dogs that are lovingly encouraged in a competition in which every dog is a winner.

Saturday, November 21, Noon to 5:00 p.m.

Craft and Folk Art Museum, 5814 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles.

Free and open to the public. This holiday event lets you shop for  one-of-a-kind creations and crafts. For a limited time, the shop will be transformed into a winter wonderland filled with unique holiday gifts for everyone on your list.

Paperworks

Through January 3, 2016, also at the Craft and Folk Art Museum.

This exhibition features contemporary artists who use paper-cutting techniques to create large and small-scale sculptural works.

Turkey Trot Los Angeles 5K and 10K Thanksgiving Day Race

November 26, 6:45 AM, Los Angeles City Hall.

Runners age 10 and up can compete before the Thanksgiving feast as they run a route that cuts through downtown Los Angeles. The little ones (ages 2-12) can take part in the Widdle Wobble in front of City Hall featuring a 20 foot tall turkey. Donations taken at registration benefit the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Brooks and Brooks Foundation, Midnight Mission and Homeboy Bakery. Downtown LA Art Walk

Noon to 10:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month.

This free self-guided public art event has unique and exciting offerings, exhibits and special programming around every corner in and around galleries on Spring and Main streets between 2nd and 9th streets and elsewhere downtown.
