Brandywine Homes Sells Every Available Unit During Grand Opening at The Orchards in La Mirada

Development adds 41 new single-family homes to underserved area
LA MIRADA, Calif. — Brandywine Homes, one of Southern California’s most successful infill developers and homebuilders, released and immediately sold nine homes at The Orchards, a 41-home community on the site of the former Alondra Center on Alondra Blvd. east of Escalona Road in La Mirada, Calif.
Following a grand opening over the weekend, Brandywine announced that in addition to selling nine of the two-story Craftsman-style homes, which range from approximately 1,300 to 2,000 square feet, it began collecting interest in the next phase of homes due to be released Feb. 22.
“The Orchards grand opening event was so successful because the La Mirada market is extremely underserved,” said Dave Barisic, vice president of sales and marketing for Brandywine. “There hasn’t been any new residential construction in this largely built-out market for more than a decade.”
The homes—offering three or four bedrooms, two and one-half to three and one-half bathrooms, two-car attached garages and private fenced rear yards—are priced from the $500,000s. Six of the smaller homes are deemed affordable for purchase by moderate-income buyers, starting in the low $300,000s.
La Mirada, named one of Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live,” is known for the popular La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts and is home to a water park called The Splash.
In 2009, Brandywine Homes purchased the former strip mall site, which was demolished in 2008, in an effort to revitalize the area though a development deal with the city of La Mirada.
