MSN Money: “Brandywine Homes Promotes Alex Hernandez to President of Homebuilding Division”
Apr. 14, 2016
Brandywine Homes, a pioneer of infill development in Southern California, announced that Alex Hernandez has been promoted to President of the company’s homebuilding division. He will be responsible for the management and supervision of day-to-day operations.
Past president Brett Whitehead has taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer at Brandywine Homes. He will focus his efforts on growing the newly formed Brandywine Investments, the company’s portfolio of income-producing assets, including multifamily, retail and other commercial real estate.
“Alex’s promotion enables us to continue diversifying our platform so we’re not only a quality homebuilder but also an investor and constructor of income-producing assets,” Whitehead said. “This move allows us to balance the cyclical nature of homebuilding so that we can operate more efficiently with a steady cash flow from multiple platforms.”
Taking the helm of a homebuilding division will be nothing new for Hernandez, who in his past corporate life led homebuilding divisions at both TELACU Development and The Olson Company. The transition will be smooth as the industry veteran has been working with Brandywine Homes for the past three years and is familiar with its process and business partners.
“I am excited for the opportunity to take the lead at Brandywine Homes Homebuilding Division,” Hernandez said. “Over the past few years we have grown at an unprecedented rate and I will look to maintain this position in the Southern California landscape.”
Hernandez joined Brandywine as Senior Vice President of Land Acquisition and Project Management in 2013 and has helped the homebuilder enhance its development and pipeline while fulfilling its strong growth projections. He has spent his entire career in real estate development and land planning and has deep knowledge of the Southern California housing market with extensive contacts in the industry. As a city planner for cities including Long Beach, Hermosa Beach and Los Alamitos, he parlayed his knowledge and skills to help developers find land and navigate the market’s complex entitlement process.
